The Lakshadweep Islands
 

CORAL REEF / CORAL ISLANDS! 

A Hidden, unknown water experience, just waiting for you!

Here sailfishes, yellow-fins, travellys, wahoos,
barracudas and turtles reigned supreme!!


 The uninhabited islands consists Bangaram, Tinnakara and Suheli.  Kalpity, Parali 1 & 2, which are nearby Agatti island.  The 10 inhabited islands are Minicoy, Andrott, Kavaratti, Kadmat, Agatti, Amini, Kalpeni,
Kiltan, Chetlat and Bitra.


Along with the Agatti or Bangaram package you can enter all the above mentioned uninhabited islands. (Entry permits will be provided to visit those Islands) You can visit your own to those islands except Suheli (Suheli is located very far around 45 N.Mls) and vessels are avilable at resorts for hourly basis (Rates attached herewith). Four of the inhabited islands (Kavaratti, Kalpeni, and Minicoy) are open to Indian tourists and Bangaram, Agatti and Kadmat are open to both domestic and foreign tourists.

Bangaram Island  Resort, Lakshadweep


Bangaram is a tiny tear drop shaped island, situated 459 miles from Kochi. It hosts a back to nature, eco friendly resort, surrounded by shallow lagoon and enclosed by coral reef. The resort provides an amazing unwinding opportunity for discerning guests and it has been ranked as one of the best getaways in the world. It offers utmost privacy in unpolluted comfort with crystal clear water. The island boasts of superb beaches and eye catching lagoons.

Bangaram, one of the most beautiful islands and it is everything you imagine a tropical island to be and from the moment you set foot on the blinding, soft, white sand you'll be totally enraptured by the exotic natural beauty of what can only be described as one of the most exclusive tropical islands in the world.

Everything about the island is natural and simple. It is quite a small island you can walk around it in an hour or so. surronded by superb, soft, silvery sands with an interior of lush green coconut groves, it portrays an image of pure ecstasy. Surrounding the island is a coral reef, which forms a large sheltered lagoon, the most incredible shade of luminous turquoise, which also encloses three small uninhabited islands.

Sixty Square Kilometers of pristine lagoon, two uninhabited islands five minutes away and a shipwreck just outside the reef where you can see the most colorful fish, make the resort an exclusive place to be. No wonder, it was one of the most favorite places of Rajeev Gandhi, who took his yearly sabbatical here, while he was the Prime Minister of the country.

The cottages are nice and spacious, perfectly in sync with the nature. You can sample the best seafood and you would have plenty to do, if you like to jump into water or bask under the sun. 

Accomodation: It is simple, unpretentious, yet very comfortable. Set in 128 acres, the resort has 30 tiled roof beach huts with its own verandah, en suite toilets fans and a fridge. In a bid to preserve the unique environment, a hotel atmosphere is not seen, but there are enough creature comforts to take care of all your needs very comfortably, It also has 4 bungalows, which are bigger and offer more privacy.

Restaurant: At the heart of the resort, there is the restaurant, an architectural marvel It is made entirely out of bamboo and palm fronds, around one tall single pole. Treat your taste buds to exotic delicacies seated in the ethenic environment of the multi cuisine restaurant. As coconuts and fish are in abundance, there would be no meal without these. There is also a well stocked bar to refresh you and let your spirits rise.

How To Reach

The Agatti Island is the gateway to Bangaram.  The airport at Agatti is well networked with Kochi from where onward flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Goa, Chennai, Bangalore and other international destinations are available. 

Indian Airlines & Kingfisher operates its daily flight to Agatti in each and everyday basis. The flight from Cochin International Airport to Agatti takes approximately one hour thirty minutes. 

At Agatti airport you would be received by the resort staff and  (If) escorted to the boat for a magical two-hour journey to Bangaram.  During monsoon (May 15 to September 15) transfers from Agatti to Bangaram are by helicopter.

Agatti Island  Resort, Lakshadweep


 
Agatti Island: Part of the Lakshadweep Archipelago, the Gateway of Lakshadweep, Agatti Island is Located 459 kms. from Cochin. Agatti and its satellite islands of Bangaram, Thinnakara, Parali-I & Parali-II presents a breathtaking spectacle of sparkling coral reefs, turquoise blue lagoons, silvery beaches and lush green coconut palms that sway to the rhythm of the sea. 

The surrounding lagoon offers ideal conditions for water sports, scuba training and presents a myriad of fishes and coral outcrops for snorkelers and divers alike. The living coral is inhabited by an astounding variety of marine life, including turtles and reef-sharks. 

A short swim or boat-ride from the beach takes us out over the reef where divers can enjoy the coral slopes and drop-offs in visibility often exceeding 30m.


Agatti Island Beach Resort: The Agatti Resort consists of 20 plus cottages (Independent; A/C & Non A/C) built in wood and concrete, furnished in European style with attached toilet, refrigerator, private verandah. Each hut accommodates 2 people and faces the palm fringed sandy beach.

Dining - Utilities: Well designed 'THAKKARAM' Restaurant serves various Indian, Continental, Chinese and Lakshadweep cuisine, buffet, bar-be-que dinner on the beach (optional) coffee shop with terrace, laundry service.

Conference: Facilities include a well equipped communication and business center, business conference up to 40 persons. 

Water Sports: Well arranged aquatic sports like Kayaking, Canoeing, Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Glass bottom boat riding, Skiing, Excursion to nearby islands, Lagoons, Deep Sea etc., (day and night). 

Deep sea fishing: Agatti is the ideal place for deep sea big game fishing. Record size Barracuda, Sailfish, Yellowfin etc., have been caught. Local boats are avaliable for rent with experienced crew. Serious anglers are advised to bring their own equipment.

 

Scuba diving: A well equipped and professionally managed scuba diving facility is on hand at the resort. As a diving location, the virgin unexplored undersea, off the reefs of Bangaram ( 8kms from Agatti) has been ranked by expert divers as being among  the best anywhere. 

The resort is operating a licensed (PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors)) Scuba Diving Center where tourists can learn diving and explore spectacular dive sites in close proximity to the island with experienced guides. (Scuba Diving Packages)
